Altwasser was experiencing the highs and lows of world history. In the 1920s, the pottery flourished, but when the Great Depression struck in 1929 and affected all industries worldwide in the 1930s, C.T. Alwasser went through layoffs and economic upset just like everyone else. Despite adversity, the pottery perserveered regardless. True to Carl's mission, the pottery continued to put its best foot forward by producing beautiful dishware.
